Frequently asked questions.
FAQs
Where do you source your ingredients?
We strive to make our products with organic and/or wildcrafted ingredients wherever possible! Sourcing from local farms and makers is our first priority, making our products hyper-local to West Michigan. See each listing for more detail on each individual product sourcing.
What is an herbal body oil?
An herbal body oil is any single or blend of oils that has been infused with dried or partially dried herbs. It has many uses! Depending on which herbs were infused, it can be used as a daily moisturizer, facial cleanser, massage oil, body oil for immune and lymphatic maintenance, and more!
While we sometimes utilize small amounts of essential oils to enhance effects or provide lovely aromas, our herbal body oils are NOT simple carriers oils with essential oils added.
How do I care for my beeswax candle or hag torch?
Trim wicks of candles before lighting, to about ¼”
For mullein torches, use a butter knife to scrape away a bit of the beeswax at the “wick” end of the torch (the end where the stem pokes up). Once the stem is exposed, it can light more easily.
We always recommend burning mullein torches with caution
NEVER LEAVE BURNING CANDLES UNATTENDED
Why did my beeswax candle develop a white film on it?
Fear not, customer! Have peace of mind knowing that your candle is made from 100% pure beeswax and natural sources of color, such as charcoal and spent indigo dye. A ‘bloom’ will occur from the beeswax some time after purchase, but this will not affect how the candle burns. If you don’t prefer the antique look that comes from the beeswax bloom, simply buff it away gently with a cloth, or give it a quick blast of hot air with a hair dryer (not too long, or the designs will met) and the bloom will disappear.
How do I use your tinctures, extracts, and elixirs?
Our standard recommended dose is around 0.5-1 tsp / 0.5-1 dropperful, or about 15-30 drops of extract, up to 3x daily. Any more specific dosing recommendations will be on the bottle.
Everyone responds differently, so we highly recommend starting on the lower end and working your way up to a comfortable level if desired.
Extracts may be taken in a small amount of water/tea/juice, or neat under the tongue.
For highest quality, keep extracts in a cool, dry, dark place. They may last indefinitely if kept in ideal conditions, but we aim to use them within a year of their production date.\
Some additional notes and guidelines:
Because of the organic nature of these ingredients, please keep in a dry environment at room temperature for the best quality.
We aim to create products provided to you in a reusable or recyclable jar so you can get the most out of your purchase. It also comes individually sealed for peace of mind that it has not been tampered with.
